Research is critical to Ranbaxy’s success. It is the foundation
for the company’s strategy of participating in a variety
of therapeutic areas, multiple markets, brand building and vertical
integration.
R&D activities for RLL and all its subsidiaries, including
RPI, are centralized in the company’s R&D campus in
Gurgaon, India. The R&D center is one of the most advanced
research centers in the country.
The state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary research facility at
Gurgaon has built up considerable R&D strengths, centered
on the knowledge-base of over 1,100 scientists and technical
personnel. RPI benefits from RLL's global dedication to research,
and is able to leverage the results in the U.S. market.
Ranbaxy’s major strengths and core competencies lie in
the development and commercialization of Active Pharmaceutical
Ingredients (API) and generic dosage forms. In pursuit of its
corporate mission of becoming a research based international
pharmaceutical company, Ranbaxy has established significant
infrastructure and human resource capabilities in the areas
of New Drug Discovery Research and Novel Drug Discovery Systems.
The company has well-defined programs in pharmaceutical development,
synthetic chemistry, custom synthesis fermentation and clinical
development.
